The Wine Specialist works with the owner to manage and grow wine sales.  They readily assist wine customers to determine needs and make recommendations.  The Wine Specialist develops a strong customer base and builds relationships to maximize repeat visits; as well as fosters a collaborative work environment, ensuring a positive internal and external customer experience.  In addition, the right person provides sales leadership and product knowledge inspiration to the team.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and selling skills
  • Demonstrates capacity for customer engagement and salesmanship including approachability, perceptiveness, tact, resilience, ability to remain upbeat and take initiative
  • Readily teaches and inspires store staff with wine knowledge
  • In charge of weekly wine-tasting events. (Set up, clean up, incl. glassware and setting up following weeks tasting), Supervising the tasting personnel
  • Participates in wine tastings and selection of what wines to carry
  • Competent with classic food and wine pairing strategies
  • Familiar with delivery procedures and ABC regulations
  • Ensures company standards are met for store and associate’s appearance at all times
  • Assists in the maintenance of the store to ensure cleanliness and organization at all times
  • Responsible for having a complete understanding and maintenance of the Wine Dept. 
  • Knowledgeable on all wine pricing, signage, vintage updates, and displays
  • Works closely with wine vendors and assists in stocking and presenting wine merchandise
  • Manages core wine inventory, seasonal wine inventory, and special release inventory to achieve sales targets and ensure proper stocking levels are maintained
  • Receives inventory and ensures all UPC codes and prices are set up in the POS
  • Ensures all products have proper price labels on wine racks
  • Maintains open and flexible availability, including peak traffic hours
  • Specifically able to work; evenings, weekends, and periods leading up to major retail holidays
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the manager

Skills Required:

  • Problem Solving & Decision Quality:  Able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
  • Relationship Management:  Able to build constructive and effective relationships

Qualifications:

  • WSET Level 2 or Certified Wine Specialist
  • 3 years working in the Wine retail or restaurant industry

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 – $17.00 per hour

Sales Associate

The Sales Associate readily assists customers to determine needs and make recommendations.  They develop a strong customer base and build relationships to maximize repeat visits as well as foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring a positive internal and external customer experience.  At Cellar 55 we strive to provide our customers with a unique and satisfying experience.  The customer always comes first.  

 Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Demonstrates capacity for customer engagement and salesmanship including approachability, perceptiveness, tact, resilience, ability to remain upbeat and take initiative
  • Assists in stocking and presenting beer & wine merchandise
  • Assists customers with the selection of beer and wine
  • Ensures company standards are always met for store and associate’s appearance
  • Assists in the maintenance of the store to always ensure cleanliness and organization
  • Customer engagement in our Tasting Room including, reservations, check-in, food, and drink orders, serving and busing tables
  • Ensures all beer & wine on the beer wall and wine wall are replaced timely and inventory in POS is updated
  • Prepares food from Small Bites Menu
  • Washes glasses and dishes as needed
  • Assists with maintaining the kitchen to ensure proper cleanliness and health code requirements
  • Understands Health Code and ABC regulations
  • Maintains open and flexible availability, including peak traffic hours
  • Specifically, able to work; evenings, weekends, and periods leading up to major retail holidays
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the manager

Requirements

Valid Driver’s License

  • Skills Required:

  • Beer & Wine Retail Sales Experience
  • Bartender or Server Experience
  • Availability to work during Cellar 55’s most productive times
    • Weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), Evenings, and peak times
    • Holidays – leading up to and including when necessary

Qualifications:

  • Beer Server Cicerone Certification
  • WSET Level 1 certification
  • Serve-Safe Certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour plus tips
